PURPOSES: (1) Identify action items, timelines and commitments for increasing the safe beneficial use of non-hazardous foundry sand; (2) Share among stakeholders a baseline understanding of the information available regarding foundry sand use.

Mike and Dan will provide an overview of foundry sands and identify issues associated with beneficial use.

2:15 State Regulatory Roundtable

Purpose: State agencies are responsible for making beneficial use decisions. This roundtable is opportunity for State officials to explore with other stakeholders successes and remaining challenges for foundry sand beneficial use.

Bob Doctor, Chair of ASTSWMO Beneficial Use Task Force and other State Officials (with facilitated stakeholder participation). Possible topics:

A. In your State, to what extend is foundry sand currently used; what major uses?
B. What concerns do you have regarding these or other uses?
C. What has worked well, and what hasn’t worked as well as you hoped?
D. What does your State need to increase the use of foundry sand? From industry? From academia? From EPA?
